Hailing from Colombia, Catalina "Cata" Mejía Arenas is a bilingual multimedia journalist and communications strategist currently based in New York City. Catalina, a Global Content Manager for Facebook & Instagram at Meta, is also experienced in TV, digital and radio storytelling formats. From pitching, writing, and producing to editing and reporting live, she masters all aspects in both English and Spanish. Catalina has interviewed many well-known personages and celebrities including former U.S. Vice President Al Gore, Salma Hayek, and Samuel L. Jackson. Her work has been showcased at NBCUniversal; Telemundo in Washington D.C. and Las Vegas; Facebook in New York; The World Bank; the Inter-American Development Bank, and the International Monetary Fund, among others.
Catalina is graduating with an M.S. in Public Relations and Corporate Communication with a focus on crisis management. Other achievements include having been named the Rising Star in Media by the T. Howard Foundation and serving as a Dean's Scholar as well as a member of the Dean's Advisory Board. Catalina was also a member of the Student Government Association's President Council, and served as the NYU SPS Graduate Student Council President for two consecutive terms.
