Financial planning thought leader and NYU SPS faculty member, David Mendels and Dr. Negar Farakish, Assistant Dean of the Division of Programs in Business, held a “Financial Planning Fireside Chat '' on December 8th, 2021. Mendels shared key tips on retirement planning to those at all stages of career and personal life and emphasized the importance of the timing of retirement planning. He suggested that the audience begin that process as soon as possible and provided advice to early and mid-career individuals as well as those nearing or in retirement.
Mendels also introduced the audience to the value of a financial planning education, and Farakish provided insight into the options available at NYU SPS for pursuing a career in this field through obtaining a Certificate in Financial Planning or applying to the M.S. in Financial Planning program launching in Fall 2022. The degree with its two cutting edge concentration options-Financial Analytics and Behavioral Finance-will provide a competitive advantage in the market to job seekers.
For over 30 years, the Department of Finance, Law, and Taxation at NYU SPS has been a leading educational provider for financial planning. In response to the increasing demand for managing finances and planning for the post-pandemic challenges and opportunities, the Division is proud to be launching the new M.S. in Financial Planning in Fall 2022.
