SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
To participate in any SCPS continuing education course through NYU-SCPS Online, students
must have the following system setup:
- The Centra synchronous VOIP environment is compatible only with the following Web browsers:
Netscape 6.0, 7.0 and 8.0 or Internet Explorer 5 and 6.
- A Pentium-class computer with a processor of 233 MHz or higher (300 MHz is recommended)
- At least 64 MB of RAM (128 MB is recommended)
- Windows 98, 2000, or XP
- A sound card, speakers and headset are required for all synchronous VOIP courses
- An Internet connection of 56.6k (a broadband connection is recommended)
- The Virtual College asynchronous course management system is compatible with most Java-friendly
Web browsers
INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDERS
You are responsible for securing your own account with an Internet Service Provider. These
communication charges are not included in the course tuition or fees.
USING AOL
America Online (AOL) is an acceptable service provider for connecting to NYU course sites,
but the AOL customized proprietary Internet Explorer browsers are not. If AOL is your service
provider, we recommend that you install and use a Java-compatible Web browser, such as Netscape 6.0
or higher, or Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher. In addition to an e-mail account, it is recommended
that you use a current version of Word or WordPerfect for the purposes of sending documents as
e-mail attachments. Other software applications may be required for specific courses.
